Hello Cozy Corner!

Meet Cookie — a small but mighty English Bulldog who proved that love didn’t come in standard shapes. Born with short spine syndrome, Cookie’s body was more compact than most, giving her a huggable, squishy frame and a permanently sweet, crinkled smile.
Her owner had found her when volunteering at a shelter in Cincinnati, OH. When she first laid eyes on Cookie, she knew immediately that she would bring her home. Her owner was made aware that Cookie had been adopted twice and then returned because of her special needs. However, Cookie’s heart was what captured her. Quickly, an adoption form was filled out and submitted the same day.
When she was rescued, simple things — like climbing onto the couch or tilting her head to look up — took extra effort. But her determination, and her love of snacks, quickly won over her forever family’s hearts.
After being adopted from the shelter for a final time, Cookie had spent her days doing what she does best: waddling around the house, napping in sunbeams, and teaching everyone who meets her that “different” isn’t something to pity — it’s something to celebrate. Her owner shared:
“Cookie didn’t see limits — she just saw life. She’s taught us that joy doesn’t depend on what’s missing, but on what’s given freely: love, patience, and a comfy blanket.”
Cookie’s story reminds us that rescue work isn’t just about saving — it’s about seeing. Seeing potential, seeing worth, and seeing beauty in the extraordinary little souls who rewrite what “perfect” looks like.
Cookie crossed over the Rainbow Bridge in 2024. Our hearts are with the family and join in celebrating a wonderful rescue story.
Rescue of the Week is part of @Positively_Theodore’s mission to celebrate every pet’s story — especially those once overlooked. Every rescue matters, and every story changes hearts. Each Tuesday, a new pet will be featured here and on the main page of the blog.
